This facinating house has been the home in Lord Montagu's family since 1538, when Sir Thomas Wriothesley, later 1st Earl of Southampton, brought the Beaulieu estate after the dissolution of the monasteries. Before that a part of the house formed the gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey founded in the 13th centuary.

There will be a special display of plans and photographs of the house illustrating continuity and change from 18th to 20th centuaries.
